Sound Covers

The sound cover was developed for the BMW R 1200 and R 1250 models. It replaces the standard cover on the air filter box and allows for a more open airflow toward the air filter. Thanks to the more open design, the engine’s intake sound is much more noticeable to the rider. Especially on modern motorcycles, where the engine often sounds very subdued, the sound cover restores more emotion, a greater sense of the engine, and a more direct riding experience. In addition to producing a clearer intake sound, the modified airflow design also helps ensure a better supply of fresh air to the air filter. This improves airflow in the intake area, which—especially when combined with the right engine software—can have a positive effect on performance. The original cover is replaced, and the standard screws are reused. Installation is simple, requires no special tools, and can be completed in a short amount of time. It is particularly effective when used in combination with compatible engine software, such as a Level 1 or Level 2 performance upgrade. However, the sound cover can also be installed on its own if the focus is on a more pronounced intake sound and a more engaging riding experience.
